4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices. Teachers:
a. advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources
b. address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies and providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources
c. promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information
d. develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and collaboration tools Digital Citizenship for Bradford Area Schools In Bradford we are governed by the 814.1 Technology Usage Policy agreement through our school board and our IT department. Next year my classroom is being transformed into a setting with touch screen laptops and Ipod touches. So, I've had to come up with another agreement along with the one that was developed by the district. Here are the two:
These are the first drafts of the policies, they have not been reviewed by administration, so I'm still taking constructive criticism.
A new idea has come up..."Technology Parent Night" Once a semester, month, week. We need to do this to show the community how and why things are being done in school!
